Bridgeside

Remember your pet, together

Bridgeside is a free online pet memorial where you can hold a simple funeral for your pet and remember them with the people who loved them too. Everyone comes in as a small avatar in a shared place at dusk, a meadow, a hillside, a garden or the seaside. You make a memorial stone with your pet's name, photo and story, invite family and friends with a link, and say goodbye together, even from far apart. It works in a web browser on a phone or a computer, with nothing to install.

How it works

How it works

  1. Make a memorial

Tell us your pet's name and what kind of animal they were, add a photo if you like, and choose where they rest. You can do this without an account: it is kept for 24 hours. Sign in with Google to keep it for good.

  2. Hold a funeral

Choose a funeral that fits your family, with or without religion, and send the invite link to the people you want there. Everyone gathers as an avatar, and you lead them through each step: opening words, a reading, memories, a moment of silence and a goodbye. You can hold it now or schedule it for later.

  3. Come back and remember

Visit the stone whenever you like. Light a candle, leave a flower, add photos and the story of their life, and read what friends write in the guestbook.

However you said goodbye

When you make a memorial, you can say how you said goodbye. It is private: it only shapes how the memorial starts, and you can change it later.

  • We do not show ads and we do not sell your information. Memorials and photos are stored in the United States.
  • Anyone can report something unkind, and we act on reports. People aged 13 to 17 have a safer, smaller set of features, and no one under 13 can enter.
  • "Need support?" is on every screen, with the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and pet loss helplines.
  • A memorial's page appears in search engines only if its owner turns that on.

Questions people ask

Is Bridgeside free?
Yes. Making a memorial, holding a funeral, inviting people and visiting are free. Credits are only for optional extras, such as a tree or a bench beside the stone, and you never need them.
Do I need an account?
No. You can walk in as a guest, and you can make a memorial and hold a funeral without signing in. A memorial made without an account is private and is deleted after 24 hours. Sign in with Google to keep it.
Can family in other states come to the funeral?
Yes. Send them the invite link. They open it in a web browser on a phone or a computer, choose a name, and arrive as an avatar at the funeral. Nothing needs to be installed.
What kinds of pets can I remember here?
Any kind: dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, hamsters, fish, reptiles, horses and every other animal someone has loved.
Can I hold a religious funeral for my pet?
Yes, if you would like one. There are funerals shaped by Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox and Latter-day Saint families, and family remembrances for Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist homes, as well as funerals with no religion at all. You can change any of the words.
Is it too late to hold a funeral if my pet passed away years ago?
It is never too late. You can hold a funeral for a pet who passed long ago, whenever you are ready, and every funeral here is written to work just as well years later.
Who can see my pet's memorial?
A memorial you make while signed in stands in its place, where anyone visiting can find it. You can make it private at any time, and then only you and the people you invite can see it.
Will my pet's memorial show up on Google?
Only if you want it to. Each memorial has a page you can share, and search engines are told not to list it unless you turn that on in the memorial's Edit.
Can I delete a memorial?
Yes, at any time. A deleted memorial is hidden at once, and you can bring it back within 30 days. After that it is removed for good.
What does it need to run?
A recent web browser on a phone, tablet or computer, that can show 3D graphics, as most recent ones can. If yours cannot, you can still read everything on this site.
What if the grief feels like too much?
You are not wrong for feeling this. "Need support?" is on every screen. If you are thinking about ending your life, call or text 988. For pet loss, the Cornell and Tufts pet loss helplines and Lap of Love support groups are listed there too.

Need support? If you are thinking about ending your life, or you are afraid you might hurt yourself, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911.
